After being in Paris for a week, during this year’s June and July’s holiday, we decided to take a four day break: two days in Brussels and the other two in Bruges. Our visit was inspired by the film In Bruges, as was the case with many other travelers which I happened to notice with the many ‘In Bruges’ walking tours. We also so happened to stay in the same hotel that was featured in the film Relais Bourgondisch Cruyce. However we were more interested in the medieval city for its’ cobbled stone roads, canals, white swans and the best chocolatiers this World has to offer. The best way to see all of Bruges and its’ sights is on hired bicycles which can be done in a few hours. My favorite landmarks were Le Béguinage, Lake of Love, Church of Our Lady and Minnewater Park , among the many others. Our bicycle ride lasted less than an hour due to rain which made the tour more atmospheric as we eventually gave up and hid in an alley way for shelter. This was by far my favorite activity that I experienced on this year’s university mid year break.
