On the 21st of March I went on my second instawalk with the #breadcrumbsquad. It also happened to be the day that us South Africans celebrate Human’s Rights Day.
Through networking on Instagram, the #breadcrumbsquad arranged to meet with Melissa de Mata (@melissademata) and Matt Maniego (@mattmaniego) from San Francisco. We met at five a.m and stopped at an open field to catch the sunrise on our way to The Cradle of Humankind. The boys wanted to take photographs of an abandoned house and I took the opportunity to take photos of the landscape and some of the group members. Duncan (@gramofdunx ) was kind enough to take some photos of me – which was intended for my very first fashion blog post. While most of the boys were set on taking photos of the stunning Miss Teen S.A Cilene Swanepoel (@cilene_stagram), Melissa de Matta and I took portrait shots of one another. By the time we arrived at The Cradle of Humankind I was exhausted and keen for lunch – which was the highlight of my day (as it is everyday). We chatted and got to know each other more. Lunch is always an opportunity to put a face to an Instagram account. It is an opportunity to learn from each other and more so, to learn things about ourselves from another person’s point of view.
A special thank you to Keenan Constance (@keenangrams) who connected with me through instagram and convinced me to attend my first instawalk. It may have taken a year for me to pluck up the courage to join but it was the best decision I have ever made and the highlight of my year.
